Jeffrey Terreson
Born: September 24 , 1955
Resides: Bedford, New York
Bio/ Resume
Jeffrey Terreson was raised and still resides in Bedford, NY, where his natural
artistic talent was recognized at a young age. He earned a 4 year full merit scholar-
ship to the Columbus College of Art and Design, where he received his BFA in
1976 at the top of his class. During this time, his art was purchased by many For-
tune 500 companies including Mobil, IBM and NBC, as well as the United Nations.
In pursuit of his own voice he absorbed the art and ideals of some of the 20th
centuries most ground breaking post-war contemporary artists such as Willem de
Kooning, Joan Mitchell, Larry Poons, Gerhard Richter and Pat Steers, including
the recent discovery of the french painter Eugene Leroy.
Drawing from the legacy of abstract expressionism, Terreson’s powerful imagery
embraces the aesthetic process of painting through the use of vibrant pigment,
wax with other mixed media and found objects. Terreson achieves an uninhibited
textural style. Merging the inspiration of these artists, the spiritual essence of the east,
deep roots of nature and his unique vision and aesthetics has led to breathtaking wood panels,
painting 5-15 pieces at a time, vibrant with color, depth, and a seductive tactile quality.
Terreson received the National Award of Excellence from The American Juried
Art Salon. In addition Terreson has over 14 solos shows in the last 5 years and 6
groups shows including Art Hampton and Shanghai Biennale in China
Terreson’s paintings can be found in more than 150 private collections, including the United Nations, Mobil oil, and fashion designer Ralph Lauren to name a few
In late 2012 Terreson’s work turned in a new direction. It is that direction that has brought the museum awards and will be showcased in his next solo show in late 2017 in NYC and Bedford NY.
In June 2016 Terreson opened T E R R E S O N: BEACON gallery and studio in Beacon NY.
